Japanese Funerals

Lavish and elaborate, the memorial ceremonies of Japan are among the most expensive in the world. With Japanese Funerals, the Museum provides visitors with a rare opportunity to explore some of the fascinating customs surrounding death in the Far East. Discover the most common method of treating the deceased, the formal gift-giving practices and the family's unique ritual in handling a loved one's cremated remains. In conjunction with Historical Hearses, this exhibit also features an ornately designed 1972 Toyota Crown ceremonial hearse used in funeral services in Japan.
