Coffins and Caskets of the Past
What's the difference between a casket and a coffin?
Find out with Coffins and Caskets of the Past and view some of the most unique containers ever created to hold the dead. Among the collection is a casket built for three people, a glass-paneled coffin made to resemble that which was featured in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and even a casket made out of authentic dollar bills and coins.
The exhibit is rounded out by a full-scale recreation of a casket factory, based on the design plans and photographs of an actual facility in operation during the 1900s. The craftsmanship skills required for creation of wooden caskets are showcased, along with artifacts used at the original factory.
